Turkey Eases AOC Requirements (Temporarily)

Turkish Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) adjusts (provisionally) its air operator certification regulation in favor of airline entrepreneurs suffering from war and emergency conditions and introduces diluted requirements for (first) air operator certification process. By virtue of a change published on April 16, 2022 in the official newspaper to the afore mentioned regulation applicants of an initial issue of a Turkish aircraft operating certificate (AOC) will temporarily benefit from limited number of exemptions. Most significant are the exemption to start up with a lower minimum capital of USD 6 million (whereas the standard minimum is USD 15 M) and smaller fleet (3 instead of 5 which is the prescribed minimum) and the permission to employ foreign cabin crew (as a rule airline cabin crew must consist only of Turkish nationals).
